Passing To The Proper Foot

Hi, my name is Dylan Leeman; welcome back to my blog on Soccer IQ. Today I am going to explain the 4th of 5 clinical skills that are important to learn. The other clinical skills are: receiving with the proper foot, the toe poke, lifting the tight angle pass, and the ball in behind. If you didn't get a chance to read my last blog on the ball in behind, you should go check it out. Today I will be talking about "Passing To The Proper Foot".

Soccer Passing"A foot and a half - that's all we're talking here. That pass was off by a mere 18 inches and yet it ruined a perfectly good chance to create a goal-scoring opportunity. Little things, yes?" (Blank 14). Another reason passing to the proper foot is critical is that it saves your teammate time so they can create a better play, also it gives them time to avoid getting stuck in a rough tackle. (Blank 14) "To play at a higher level you got to hold yourself to a higher standard. Merely getting the ball to your teammate is no longer good enough. You've got to put him in the best position and that means delivering a proper ball to her proper ball. Here's a simple way to remember it: Give a pass that you'd like to receive" (Blank 16). This is a rather lengthy quote but I used the whole thing because I believe that all of it is helpful advice. This also kind of relates to a life lesson, treat people how you want to be treated, that kind of reminds me of how you should pass a ball that you wouldn't mind receiving. Also you should not try forcing a balling through a very tight angle.

Why do you think this coach says you should practice passing to the proper foot instead of training both feet to be strong so you have the same capability with both feet?
