Once you have taken pictures you are proud of, you will obviously want to show them off to your friends. In The Unforgettable Photograph, George Lange and Scott Mowbray give several ideas on how you can display your photographs in unique, creative ways rather than the usual picture frame or photo album. The projects that Mowbray and Lange provide us with are " projects that document an important event...and [you can] then share that project with the people you love, giving them a glimpse not only of the event but of its celebration" (280). The many suggestions on how to display photos gives the reader a way to show important parts of their lives in creative ways and in a way that they can express their personality as well.
One of the ideas that was given was to cut up a picture. This seems like such a strange idea, especially to people that feel the need for things to be perfect. Although when put to the test, it creates a completely unique and eye catching product.
To complete this project you need a picture frame (any kind) with the glass and mat all taken out of it, a picture cut out how you would like it to be, and tape (309). You can then take the cut up picture, tape it directly to the wall, and lastly hang up the picture frame on the wall corresponding to the placement of the picture. Then you have an awesome looking picture display on the wall, one that you wont find in every other family's house.
Another one of the ideas i found that was just as intriguing as the cut out picture was another wall display. This project consists of hanging pictures up on the wall without a picture frame, but in a more unique way. You can use clothes hangers or any interesting item you happen to find, and clothespins or special clips (313). Whatever you choose to do it is sure to create an eye appealing display of photos.
I chose to use clothes hangers and clothespins to hang up some of the pictures i have taken recently. This project is one that is very simple and can be done in a short amount of time if that is all you have. As Lange says, the clothespins are an awesome tool because they "allow me to change the pictures as often as i want" (313). All you have to do to complete this project is to hangup the hangers on the wall by using a nail or a tack, put the clothespins on the hanger spaced out evenly, and then clip on a photo of your choosing to each clip! After using these display ideas you are sure to have the most unique way of displaying your art compared to all your friends. All of the ideas given by Lange and Mowbray are sure to please the crowd.
How do you display pictures in your family? Do you think you will try this?
I really love how you used clothes hangers and clothespins to hang up your photos! The way you have the hangers lined in a vertical line makes it even better, it looks so nice. To answer your question in our family we display our pictures by just putting them into frames and hanging it onto the wall and sometimes we used magnets to put them onto the white board and fridge. I will definitely try these ways of displaying my pictures out.
ReplyDeleteThanks Eliza! That is exactly how my family usually displays photos, but i wanted to try something new in my room. It definitely gives a space a creative touch.
DeleteThis Is a great idea! It looks unique and cute. The way I normally hang up my photos of my friends and family is on a bulletin board. But a lot of times it looks cluttered so I will try this because it helps the photos not look cluttered. Super cute!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Madison (: I was happy with how it turned out!
DeleteI think this idea is such a good way to add a super cute touch to a wall! When it comes to pictures, I usually just stick to some string and tape, but I for sure will be trying this idea out! My family uses fancy frames to display family photos, but I think using this idea will not only save money but add a unique touch to our photos. This was a great post Lillia! :)
ReplyDeleteThat means a lot Isabelle! I have seem the string and tape idea other places on the internet but i haven't tried it yet, i will have to try that out.
DeleteWe have a hallway dedicated to family photos/memorabilia. I love to walk down it and think about all of the people who have helped me to get where I am today and the legacy that I am responsible for carrying on.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the major reasons why i love pictures, it is like a still shot of life that you can keep forever. That sounds like a cool idea though Mrs. Robison!
ReplyDeleteThat's really cool! I never thought about putting pictures up like that. I usually just use glass and a frame but now I have some new ideas to try. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo problem Trevor! it is definitely a good idea to try new things(:
