Yes there may be some conflicts and rivalries in soccer but that applies to all sports whether it is baseball or football but in the end everyone gets together to play their sport. The book says, "Eight years passed since the disaster in Maracana, but Brazil still hadn't moved on-no, not in the slightest."(Pele 173) There has recently been a disaster but people overcome this and try to take their minds off it by going and hanging out and talking while getting to watch your country participate in one of the biggest tournaments in the world.
The most current event occurred in the last world cup where there was major flooding in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Bosnia could barely make it to the world cup but when they did it helped the country take their mind off the tragic disaster.
