The last way to improve
your swimming that I will talk about is cross-training. Often on my swim team
we do what we call dry-land because we are mostly in the water but only for
short amounts of time. I decided to do some of my own dryland at home to
further better my strokes. The book states that dry-land it a good way for
swimmers to build up muscles that you don’t usually use in the water to make
sure you are getting the most out of your kicks and pulls (Laughlin 265). Usually
at practice we do dry-land that includes burpees, push-ups, sit-ups, v-ups, and
so much more.
When I was home I took it
upon myself to do some more dryland in the morning and the evening or whenever I
could. In the book it states, “The best way to build up your biceps as well as
other arm muscles is to do 10 push-ups at night and 10 in the morning or more
if you can” (Laughlin 266).Now I have been doing this for a couple weeks and
already I am seeing improvement. I can now do about twelve push-ups and I can
do more and more everyday.
Have you ever tried any
things at your home to help you preform better in sports?

Great post! Yeah at home sometimes I do a dumbell T that works out the upper back and glutes. I do this because when biking you don't put as much strain on those areas.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! The best way to improve is by strengthening your muscles!
