Big Food

Today, I tried to make a recipe for oyster stew. I chose this one because I always wanted to try Oyster's but I was a scared, because many of my friends have said in the past it made them sick. Robb Walsh said," In Texas, oyster stew us a bowl of oysters with a little, not a bowl of milk with a couple of oysters.", (23.) Perfect I thought, I like milk and it looked good in the pictures. So I went and got the ingredients at the store. Which included:

  1. 1 Pint shucked oysters
  2. 1/2 cup water
  3. 1/2 cup sea salt
  4. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  5. Pinch of cayenne pepper
  6. 1/2 cup of milk or half-and-half
  7. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  8. Tabasco sauce
  9. Soda Crackers

First I pour the oysters and the sauce. Season with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. (Walsh). Will I was doing this I accidentally poured 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper. As I was starting to boil the pot.  I carefully had the read the next step which was, " Lower the heat to simmer and cool until the edges of the oysters curl."   This made no sense to me because I don't like seafood in any way shape or form. But sense I was feeling adventurous and I was already cooking the Oysters, I actually went to YouTube and looked at what they looked like curling. As soon as I saw what it looked like  this.

Then I added the milk and stirred the butter in the pot. I finally finished, and when I ate it, I was surprised how spicy it was, but I realized that oysters aren't that good. Overall, I enjoyed making them, but it wasn't that tasty.
Does the type of oyster determine on the taste of the food?
