In Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld, she takes a normal chocolate chip cookie recipe and adds her own twist to it.
The ingredients are as followed:
- nonstick cooking spray
- 1 cup of firmly packed light or dark brown sugar
- 3/4 cup of trans-fat-free soft tub margarine or spread
- 2 large white eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 (15 ounce) can of chickpeas drained and rinsed
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups all purepose flour
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
I mixed all of these ingredients in a big bowl with an electric mixer. I made sure to add the oats and flour bit by bit so everything mixed well (Seinfeld 177). This step is key in making sure that the ingredients are well spread out and are in every individual cookie. "Drop the dough by the tablespoon onto a baking sheet, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart. Press gently with a fork to flatten (Seinfeld 177). In the past, whenever I had made chocolate chip cookies, they have always came out not so great looking. But by pushing the cookies down with a fork, they were a lot rounder and came out actually looking like a cookie.
As you can see, these cookies turned out looking very nice and pleasing to not only the stomach but to the eye as well. The best part is you can't even see the chickpeas that I mixed into them.
The cookies tasted amazing and you would have never guessed that there was a secret ingredient them. This is again testifying that you can make food that taste great and still add a healthy twist to it. They looked amazing as well because I made sure to follow all of the instructions and tips that Seinfeld mentioned for the chocolate chip cookie process.
Do you guys prefer your chocolate chip cookies with milk or by itself?
Hi Mckayla,
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe you can put chickpeas in chocolate chip cookies and the taste will still be great. This is a very interesting blog, and I soon want to try it out myself. To answer your question, I prefer chocolate chip cookies with milk because they just taste better, especially if the cookie is fresh out of the oven. In connection to this topic, one time when baking cookies I had to replace butter with a different ingredient to make it more healthier but at the same time it turned out tasty.
Wow this looks delicious! I don't think I've ever had a bad chocolate chip cookie, so I'm not surprised that these turned out great! I don't particularly like milk, so I just eat my cookies fresh out of the oven by themselves.
