Coincido

I didn't touch your card but I still found it.

This time, I'm doing  trick called Coincido. A lot of tricks that have the magician not touch the card involve counting. This trick isn't different, but this time, the Spectator sets up the cards for me.

The trick with this performance was how the deck was before the trick started. A 7, 9, 6, and  a 10 are placed on the top of the deck. This makes the 4 lucky cards before the reveal always add up to 32 (fulves 40).  "Numbers are destiny" (fulves 40) is what the author says you should explain in this trick. I used an example of using numbers to illustrate that sentence. This trick was easy to learn, Only took me about 30 minutes to  figure it out. Shooting it was a whole other story.

For my second to last trick, this was another No-Clue discovery trick.

What is my last magic trick you ask?

Boom, Now all my shirts and jackets in my magic blogs are black.

Now that my blogs are over, will you miss the magic in your life? I do recommend Karl Fulves to you guys, it has a wide range of tricks in it although sometimes a little hard to understand. Thank you guys for watching, reading, and commenting on my blogs!

Do you thing working as a magician would be hard? Should I definitely not give up on my education to do magic tricks around the world?

A Card is Found

I Must Really Like Finding Cards

Guys, I found your card again. I'm sorry, I don't try to, I just can't stop myself.

This is the Trick called A Card is Found. It's another trick that uses counting to figure out a card. Much like my last trick, knowing the numbers helps the trick go smoothly. But it's not that hard.

Since this is such a baffling trick, the book says, "Do it once and don't repeat it, because it is a beautifully concealed swindle" (Fulves 46). The counting is secret. while making sure the cards are shuffled, note the top nd bottom cards (fulves 46). Then you add both those cards together. that's most of the counting.

Once again, the magician finds your card. Thanks For watching!

would you rather do card tricks or other kinds of magic tricks?

This Is Not The Card

How Do I find Your Card This Time?

It's me again, the wannabe magician.  I bring another hopefully amazing magic trick from Karl Fulves'  Self-working Close Up Card Magic. This trick is called This Is Not The Card. In this trick the card is put into the deck at random
I apologize immensely for all the sniffing in the video, I am currently a little sick.

The wording in the magic book was a little hard for me to understand, so  had to ask for help from my brother when learning the trick. Since he helped me, I invited him to be in my video. He's the hands helping me. The author of the book describes this trick, as "The seemingly random nature of the way the card is chosen. The magician never touches the card, yet it is under his direct control." (Fulves 38)

True, the magician never touches the card. But for this trick, he doesn't need to. The reason they don't need to touch the card, it's because of the way the cards are counted. During the trick the author says to count 29 cards in.

This trick was a bit more complex that the others, but it works really well.
If you were making a routine, would you rather have a few more complex tricks or more short but amazing tricks?

Magic by Design (This is Not a Lecture It's a Magic Trick)

The Deck Knows Your Card...

I'm back with another magic trick. But this time, I don't find your card, the deck knows your card. I'm Back at it again with Karl Fulves' Self-working Close-up Card Magic book.

This trick is classified as an opening trick. Karl Fulves' Self-working Close-up Card Magic defines an opening trick with " The opening card trick should have a simple plot because that is the best way to engage the audiences attention" (Fulves 1).

I think the most important part of this trick is the way you shuffle the cards near the end. this shuffle is called the duck and deal shuffle and is not just to mix up the cards. this shuffle makes sure the three is always the card chosen for the trick.

overall this was a really simple trick.  What do you guys think is the best kind of trick for an opening in a magic routine?  Do you want to start with a bang, or start small?

The Almanac Deck

You're About to Be Amazed!

(Hopefully)

I don't know about you, but doing magic tricks was always cool to me. I loved learning how to baffle my peers and to make the impossible possible. The first trick I ever learned was very inconvenient, but I loved it anyway.  This time I'm focusing on card tricks.

The book I picked up was Karl Fulves' Self-working Close-up Card Magic. It has 56 tricks in total.  The trick I decided to start with is The Almanac Deck. Without further ado, I present what I have learned.

(The video may be messed up from transferal.)

Sadly I cannot add a video on how to do the trick because of file size issues.

The main thing to remember when executing this trick is that "It does not matter whether the reversed card is red or black; always say the deck is on Daylight Saving Time" (Fulves 12). Other things to remember is the trick facts for the explanation of the numbers of cards. I said some of these wrong in my video but these are the correct ones:
  • There are 12 picture cards like the 12 months of the year.
  • There are 52 cards like the 52 weeks of the year.
  • If you add all the values of the deck , plus one for the jokers, you get 365. Just like the number of days in a year.
Here are some things I want to ask you:
Do you think magic is a waste of time? Know any magic tricks yourself?

Please let me know if you liked it or not. :)
