Men's Clothing: Dress Shirt

There are many options for a dress shirt if you wear it alone. Though there are certain guidelines you should follow when picking one out for your outfit.

The Color: The color should be a solid color for a formal event. The most commonly worn color is white; this dress shirt is a must have. Generally if the color of the dress shirt is solid it should not be the same color as the suit (or tie if you are wearing one). Though there is an exception to that for certain events; such as a funeral where all-black is worn.
PATTERNS: Some patterns for casual during the seasons
Fall: Striped light colors
Winter: Flannel, diagonal, and check patterned
Spring: Graph check, mini-check, checkerboard
Summer: Bengal Stripe
(Flusser).

An example of a dress shirt for casual wear:

Fitting:
Fitting is fairly easy, the collar when buttoned should perfectly wrap around your neck. And the sleeves"Whether barrel or French cuff, the shirt must fit snugly around the wrist so that the additional length required to keep the cuff from pulling back when the arm is extended does not force it down the hand. Shirt cuff and hand should move as one" (Flusser 135).

Do you like to wear dress shirts casually more often than you do formally? And why?
