Physical Preperation
A warm-up is good for your body before and after a work out its a good habit to develop and when it comes to your game it will help you focus more because warm ups can help with your mental preparation which makes you more focused and more alert. "Just as the mind requires preparation to raise its performance level, so does the body. Unless you warm up or do some form of stretching excerise, sudden bursts of activity are likely to cause injury, your muscles, ligaments, and tendons will not be flexible enough to endure strenuous physical activity"(Chris Beeson 29). If you don't stretch or do simple workouts before a game you are most likely to feel pain in your legs or arms when playing and also the next day when you wake up in the morning after not stretching your gonna feel a lot of pain in your body just because you didn't stretch. The warm-up is designed to keep your body feel relaxed and not in pain and make you feel more energetic, wear extra clothing before playing on the court to hold in your warmth. "The ideal warm-up routine includes three distinct aspects: aerobic, stretch, and practice" (Chris Beeson 29).

An open-ended discussion question would really help to facilitate a conversation as well. According to the MayoClinic, "Stretching can help improve flexibility, and, consequently, range of motion about your joints. Better flexibility may:
ReplyDeleteImprove your performance in physical activities
Decrease your risk of injuries
Help your joints move through their full range of motion
Enable your muscles to work most effectively." I tend to believe that stretching can help to improve athletic performance significantly, but agree with research that suggests it has little impact on muscle soreness. As a yoga teacher, I believe that stretching can improve performance and life-long health in so many ways, but it needs to be balanced with strength training.
