What effect can good study habits have? certainly the native born talents and skills have the most to do with success in school ( Fry 34). studying has always been a problem for me but not anymore, the book How to Study has helped me get my studying habits right. according to fry one must make time in order to have good study habit and succeed. even though there are many distractions in the modern world and technology era one must practice self discipline and respect in order to not go back on their study habits.
To do this one needs help from their surrounding. Fry encourages that parents should step in and help in the setting of the goals to be achieved. He also encourages students to know their teachers and know their methods of grading and testing, likes and dislike, this helps the students know what way to adapt and approach different classes. according to Fry knowing your teacher could go along way because everyone needs a mentor in life.
Do you agree with Fry?

DeleteHi Topister, I agree with Fry with students trying to get know their teachers because if they don't understand what they are taught then they shouldn't be embarrassed or shy to ask how to explain in a way that they can understand it. Also, when I try to study I try to avoid my room since all of my stuff is there and it makes me tempted to stop doing schoolwork. Anyways, nice blog it seems like an interesting book!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you Brannon, personally trying to stay away from my room almost never works because that is the only place in my house i can study peacefully. even though all my electronics are in there I usually try to balance my time but i never works so I always end up doing my studies and homework on the last minute
DeleteYes. Parents should step in when kids are struggling and help them to set goals - both long-term and short in order to achieve the academic success they are wanting and to demonstrate to them how to study. Students need to know how to study at home and parents can really positively contribute to this knowledge. Also, yes - 100% knowing the rubrics and grading criteria of a teacher is very important to academic success. However, I think that teachers should, as much as possible, remove personal preferences from grading. This should be a conscious effort on the part of teachers. They should grade on criteria/rubrics and remove personal opinion/preferences as much as possible - do you agree? Why?
ReplyDeleteI agree because having goals make it easier to reach a certain desired point. Just like you i strongly believe that a teacher should treat all students equally without being bias to ensure equal development from all the students and not a chosen few
