The Final Steps
Once the computer is up and running you are going to need to upload your operating system, in my case I was using Windows 10. Before you upload windows you have to check the computer BIOS. According to Gower the BIOS is where you can configure different drives (Gower 81). But the BIOS is also used to check on your systems, making sure your fans are working, and that your cpu is not over-heating.
Nowadays most computer operating systems are downloadable from the internet, so you would need a blank USB flash drive with enough space to get the application online then to load it up on your computer. Once it is uploaded you format your hard drive how you want, "The newest versions of Windows,..have a way to partition and format the hard drive" (Gower 83). Partitions the drive is like splitting it into multiple parts, maybe ones your main drive and the other is a backup. Once, you have all this set up your computer is ready to be used; however, you can also upload your graphics card to optimize for gaming, and/or your motherboard to have better control over your systems. Either way I finished my computer. And I feel like building another in the future.
If you have ever made a computer, what makes you want to build another, or to not build another?

When I first got my computer up in running it was a mess, it never worked, constantly shutting off, windows crashing, did you experience any of this when you first got your computer to start up?
ReplyDeleteNo, to be honest I had a little help during this part from my uncle who works with Microsoft, I did most of the work, he just made sure i didn't screw anything up when I got the computer running.
DeleteI agree with Nathan, I have tried to build a computer and for some reason I'm not able to wrap my head around all of the different components and aspects that make a computer run properly. Because of this I would not attempt to build another unless I had more instruction in how to do so properly.
ReplyDeleteThe building part I was actually able to figure out pretty quickly, it was the getting it running that was really confusing. But like I said in my reply to Nathan I had some help from my uncle who works for Microsoft, I was able to figure out on my own how the computer works and all the important things needed to get it up running and I will probably some day (probably not near future), build more computers.
DeleteWhat makes me want to build another pc is figuring out what works best to create a strong and reliable pc. For example I have built a pc with a friend. On this pc my friend chose fans, to maintain a cool and a non over heated pc, the pc turned out great worked well and was strong. But then I heard about water cooling, and that what makes me want to build another pc, seeing if water cooling makes a huge difference between regular air fans used in many pcs.
ReplyDeleteI heard of water cooling as well, and next time I make a computer I will definitely look into water cooling. But for now the fans work great, I have all my wires organized which allows air flow through the pc to cool it faster.
DeleteHello James,
ReplyDeleteI do want to build another computer soon so I can put my old one in a different room. Another reason I want to is because my hardware is getting outdated and my motherboard doesn't support the latest cpus. I could just replace the motherboard in the case I already have but the idea of making a whole other pc just sounds more appealing to me.
Yeah if I only had to replace small parts like the hard drive, graphics card, or even the power supply I will just replace it. other wise I will start from scratch making a whole new computer.
DeleteHi James
ReplyDeleteAs I stated before, I had help building my computer. If I had the money, time, and effort I would totally try to build another computer this time mostly on my own. Since I am kinda interested in the process and want to see what it is like to build it by my self this time.
